MULTIPLE GENRES
Taiko has began to break out of the traditional means of Kumidaiko. Composers have understood the power of taiko drums and have begun to incorporate them into musical scores for films as well as in the elements of world music. More recently, taiko has found its way in the world of popular music, currently geared more towards the live performances and less the radio edits of songs; however, this is a recent innovation and taiko's integration within the genre is bound to increase. It may only be a matter of time before taiko appears in another genre of music that we all enjoy listening to.
SOUNDTRACKThe powerful sounds of the taiko can be found within many scores for films and video games, and not just those themed around East-Asian cultures. The taiko is now becoming a very powerful instrument in conveying certain emotions within film that other instruments would not be able to create.

World music can be separated into many different categories, ranging from completely symphonic with the ability to accompany visual media, or also more traditional ensembles of instruments more closely related to the music of the cultures from which they came.
